Carrum Downs Secondary College

CDSC has an attendance expectation of 95%

To help reach this goal the College employs a range of strategies, including:

  • Having four House Support Officers (HSO’s) who monitor student attendance
  • House and whole school awards for students with 95% and above attendance
  • End of year awards and vouchers for students who finish the year with 100% attendance
  • Student absence plans

Attendance Instructions

Students are not normally given permission to leave the school during the day. Students must never leave the school property without permission from their parent/guardian and the school. If your child is absent or running late, please enter this on Compass or ring the relevant  House Support Officer.

If you require your student to leave school early for a pre-planned appointment, your student must bring a note signed by the parent/guardian and this must be shown to the class teacher before signing out at their House. Alternatively you can enter departure details on Compass.

Should something arise on the day requiring your child to leave the College early, please ring the relevant House Support Officer. The House Support Officer will then make sure your child is at reception waiting for collection.

The education department now requires parents wanting to take students out of school for an extended period of time to request permission in writing for the student to be away from school. This must be sent to the Principal at least 1 term prior to the dates sought.
