Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy and the Schools’ Privacy Collection Notice.

 

Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students Policy  describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.

 

We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use digital technology safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using digital technology safely, please contact the school.

Photographing, Filming and Recording of students – OPT OUT

During the school year there are many occasions and events where staff may photograph, film or record students participating in school activities and events. We do this for many reasons including to celebrate student participation and achievement, showcase particular learning programs, document a student’s learning journey, celebrate camps/excursions/sports events many of which are communicated with our parents and school community.

We do ask that any parents/carers or other members of our school community photographing, filming or recording students at school events (e.g. concerts, sports events) do so in a respectful and safe manner and that any photos, video or recordings (“images” of students are not publicly posted including to a social media account) without the permission of the relevant parent/carer.

Carrum Downs Secondary College understands that parents and carers have the right to withhold permission for our school to use photographs, video or recordings of their student/s (apart from circumstances where the school is not required to seek consent – see our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students Policy).

If you agree to the school using photos, video or recordings of your student/s as described above, you do not need to take any further action.

 

However, if you have decided that you do not want images of your student/s to be collected or used by our school, please complete the form and return it to Reception at Carrum Downs Secondary College, or email carrum.downs.sc@education.vic.gov.au.

 

Please note that it may not be possible for the school to amend past publications or to withdraw images that are already in the public domain.
