Aspire Dance will run as a 10 week program throughout Term 3 for one hour every Wednesday morning from 7.30-8.30am.
The course will cater to all students, both experienced and inexperienced, and will cover a diverse range of genres and styles.
Each one hour Dance class will cover:
- Warm-up & Preparation: Focuses on dynamic stretching, body awareness, and safe dance practices to reduce the risk of injury, while promoting flexibility, endurance, coordination.
- Skill/Technique Development: Introduces fundamental movement skills, rhythm training, and technique development based on the selected dance style.
- Combinations & Choreography: Using a layered approach to choreography, students will be supported and challenged according to their individual skill levels. Students will have opportunities to explore a variety of dance styles while developing style-specific techniques, movement vocabulary, and creative expression. Through choreographic tasks and collaborative activities, students will explore the choreographic elements of time, space, and energy, learning how these concepts can be manipulated to communicate performance intention, engage an audience and develop stage presence, overall building confidence as both performers and creators.
- Cool Down & Reflection: Incorporates mindfulness, gentle stretching, and peer feedback to support reflection and wellbeing. Students will have the opportunity to discuss their learning experiences, reflect on their progress, and contribute ideas for dance styles, genres, and activities they would like to explore in future classes. This student-driven approach encourages student voice, ownership of learning, and the development of a collaborative and inclusive dance environment.
